Alright then, draw your swords again innocent children. But, I promise you, their blood will be on you souls! i will not mention the shame which will fall on the army which made war against defenseless little children. Go ahead and make you pact with the Devil. Murder the children and the priest who is accompanying them. Murder us and hear the cry of horror that will shake the whole of Umbria.
I think that this is important to the chapter because if Dolf hadn't spoken to the General all of the children would have been killed. The crusade would be over, and Dolf would never be able to come home. I think that if the children hadn't helped them fight back against Ludovico they might not have believed Dolf after the fact and that would have killed them.

    1. I agree Dolf has saved the crusade time and time again. He is very smart the way he works with people and I think that only half the crusade would have actually made it to Genoa with out him.

    2. I agree with both of you without Dolf no of this would have been possible and the crusade would not have gotton this far without Dolf.

    3. I agree that Dolf is part of the reason that they were still alive, but if Maria wasn't there then the General wouldn't have been reminded of someone that was like her and would have never let them through.

  2. Is the Dream still Alive and In a Trap

“I have heard also about the trickery of Anselmus, by which we have been led astray from the correct path. Jerusalem is not found on the other side of the sea, but the shores of another, east of here. That is why-and pay good attention to this- those who wish to go no farther may stay here in Genoa or travel north with Augustus. But those who still wish to see Jerusalem can follow me. I am Going to travel east to the sea, for that is where God will perform His Miracle!”
“Dolf was thunderstruck and even more so when thousands of children, hysterical with joy, cried in response: “ Nicolas, we will Follow you!”
I think that this is important to the Book because it shows that people still care about the Crusade and they do not want to give up. Another reason why I think that it is important is because it shows that the children care and that they want to get to Jerusalem even after what happened.

Would you keep on traveling and try to make it to Jerusalem or would you be one of the children who wanted to go home? Explain

    1. I would not want to do any of those because I would want to be one of the children that stopped and built huts and lived under their own roof and worked for nobody but themselves. I would do this because I love the idea of living in the wild by myself like in the book my side of the mountain.

    2. I wouldn't have wanted to do either because going back would take months and going to Jerusalem could have ended up in another trap, but I would have gone to Jerusalem because there would be nothing for me to go back to and I couldn't live in the wild by myself or with a few people.

    3. I wouldn't have wanted to go to Jerusalem or back to where they began. Either way you went you would have no family or anyone you knew and you'd be back to square one where you couldn't have a job and would have no food.

  3. But now what a difference at the beginning of the 13th century Piza was a thriving City mightier than Florence larger than Rome and busier than Genoa cathedral was already built complete with the Leaning Tower The Fortress in wall stud not as a sleepy ruins of the famous Pastors in sausage but in their full magnificence and Glory dog was delightfully astonished.Leonardo urged him to stay in the city as a guest of the Benassi family it was an attractive proposal...
I cose this passage because it shows how great Pisa is and how Dolf could have been with his best friend and loved it there. I think that Dolf should have chose to stay because the crusade is so low in numbers that even if they make it to Jeruslem they would never be able to take it over. Do you think that they are going to be able to take over the White City?

    1. No I don't because Nicholas is dead and he was the one that was the most committed and without him I feel like everything would fall apart since the didn't have the person who was supposed to part the sea and everyone just went because they didn't have anything to go back to.

    2. No because like you said they are in such low numbers and they have no leader's except Dolf. If I were Dolf I would have stayed because if he went to Jeruselem he would be doomed.

"In the Count's eyes, the children arrived in the nick of time, though the news of their approach had at first caused him to panic. Another army? Were they trying to attack him from three sides? But then, realizing that the children were unaware of their position, he decided to make use of them. He hurriedly dispatched a few soldiers and his chaplain to greet them."
I think this is important because it showed just how far the Count would go to save his own skin even if it meant sacrificing children. It also shows just how many situations the children always seem to get into without even realizing and how dangerous life was back then even when you were inside city walls.

    1. If I was the count I wouldn't have just let the children die. I would have saved them or told them they could help fight a war. This goes to show that if you do something to someone they are going to rebel against you. Because the children teamed up with the enemy and conquered the Count.
