ReplyDeleteYou just ask a discussion question. I got that mixed up to I wrote a blog but I only had to write one discussion question
ReplyDeleteRyan you have to ask a question like this for example
ReplyDeleteDo you think that Bertho will die because he got hurt by the boar?
Is this your qestion this is from our last section?
DeleteIt was just an Example
DeleteDo you think Peter in the story is supposed to replicate Peter, Jesus' disciple? Explain.
ReplyDeleteNo because this takes a long place after bible times. Peter and Peter do share a lot of personalities but I don't think it could be because Peter died before the church really started spreading majorly.
DeleteNo because they have a completely different attitude and personality. This Peter is less Bold and more shy.
DeleteDo you think that the crusade will actually make it to Jerusalem and take it over with Dolf there? Why or Why Not?
ReplyDeleteNo I don't because with all the difficulties they are having now they are getting set back and they haven't crossed the mountain yet. I think while they cross a lot of the children will end up not making it due to sickness and injuries so they won't have enough children to take over even with Dolf's help.
DeleteNo because when they are traveling so many people are getting sick , and also they have not gotten to were they want to be at the moment, also because so many of them are getting sick a lot of them will probably die.
DeleteI think so because they are eager to get there because they say it is what God has in plan for them
DeleteDo you think that God was making Anselmus sick so that they couldn't leave? Or do you think it was just a fluke. Explain.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a fluke because Leonardo wasn't around and he could have put something in his food.
DeleteI also think it was a fluke because of what Iye said and because I think that God is very misinterpreted back then and that having mixed communications with Nicolas makes no sense.
DeleteI don't think that God was making him sick I think that it was also a fluke because i don't think anything happened he just got sick out of the blue and it was not body's fault. Also I don't think that God would do that .
DeleteDo you think that Nicolas is lying? about the angel, about God calling them to Jerusalem, the sea splitting? Explain.
ReplyDeleteI think he is because there is no where in the bible that says that Nicolas will split the sea. It says that moses will split the sea
DeleteThe Kidnapping-The Demons' Assault
ReplyDeletePg 162 Par 2
Panic rain throughout the whole Camp the first of children hardly understood what was happening all the Riders galloped around grabbing the most suitable boys and girls those who are take taken struck out furiously then arms and legs while the others ran off screaming some of the orderlies tried to attack the Rogers but The Prudent blunt weapons were no avail against the armour finally 50 were brought together and tied up with thick corpse ropes among them was Peter and Frank.
I think that this is a very important part because this starts the whole chapter. Peter and Frank were both very needed boys for the crusade. This is what triggered Dolf to attack the castle and show his boldness and determination. Would you have done the same?
If I was in the same position as Dolf I would have done the same. In the book it says that they took the backbone of the army. This would make me want to rescue them because what good is the crusade without Frank and his friends. They do lots of the hunting so they would have hardly any food without them.
DeleteIf i was in the same situation as Dolf I probably would have not done the same thing he did because I would not have the gut to go and fight also because I would probably end up killing my self in the end and not getting any of the children back.
DeleteI probably wouldn't do the same because I wouldn't know how to rescue them and not get caught. I think he was able to pull it off because he knew a lot more about the Middle Ages and with Carolus' help he made a plan that I definitely wouldn't be able to think of..

ReplyDeleteThe kidnapping-Demon's assault.
ReplyDeletePage 177 paragraph 1
"It's time," he whispered with a yawn. The moon had set, it was pitch dark. Straining his eyes Dolf could just distinguish the figures of the sentries rousing their reliefs. Slowly and cautiously he crept to a place from where he could observe the castle unnoticed. The forest around him was alive with rustling sounds, but these no longer frighted him. He waited for what seemed and eternity until the sky in the east showed the first faint tinges of dawn.
This is important to the story because it helps to make the story seem very intense. It helps show what the scenario that they are in is like. I found that when reading the I was thinking, "here we go," with an exited attitude. It helps the momentum get going. What effect did this have on you?
the effect that it had one me was when I was reading I got all excited and thought yes another interesting thing that we get to read to make the book more interesting also I thought Oh now they are going to die but then I was relieved that they did not die and they go the children back.
DeleteThe effect it had on me was that it was intense and the dawn was just the beginning of all that's going to happen and it made me excited and thoughtful of what would happen next in the chapter and the book.
DeleteI knew that Dolf would probably save the children but I was very curious to see how he was going to do it. It wasn't as intense as I thought it would be but I was surprised by Dolf's strategy. Overall it gave me a smile when I was reading because of the funny plan that would only work in these times.

ReplyDeleteThe Kidnapping- The Demons' Assault
ReplyDeletePage 182 part of paragraph 2 and part of paragraph 3
“Now that they had what they wanted, the devils herded the prisoners together and drove them before them through the gate across the bridge and into the forest. The fifty-two prisoners were quickly led into the forest as far away from the castle as possible.”
This is important because it shows that Dolf can do things that he puts his mind to and prove people wrong. This is also important because they saved 52 of the children from the crusade. Finally it shows that Dolf can have a positive mindset about a situation when other people think that nothing can be done about it.
What would you do if you were in one of the fighters shoes? Explain.
I would have gone along with the plan and not bailed because I would risk messing up the plan and I would want to help rescue my friends and if I deserted the mission I would have a higher chance of dying because I wouldn't know what to do to not risk the people going on with the plan.
DeleteI would be nervous at first but since Dolf had proved his intelligence I would trust him. I would be at the back kind of because I would want to see if it was working at first then I would join. If the plan wasn't working I would be the first to run.
DeleteI would have faith in Dolf because everything that they did had been planned by Dolf and succeeded. I think I would be a little bit nervous. But it would be for the good of 50 kids.
DeletePg. 166 paragraph 3
ReplyDelete“Seventeen, an indivisible, devilish number; a prime number. Surely Romhild and his men will be able to count to seventeen.”
This is important to the story because it shows how powerful the church was and how influenced they were about Heaven and Hell. It shows that everyone during that time feared even the smallest things that could “send them to Hell” so when they saw a “sign from God” they did whatever they had to without question in hopes that they would go to Heaven.
If you were Dolf would you have thought to use religion in making an attack plan? Explain.
After being with the crusade after a while you would learn about what they cared most about. I don't think I would be able to think of a smart plan like Dolf's but I think that I could have still scared the people of the castle with religion.
DeleteI would use religion because if Nicolas found out he would be furious at Dolf. They already tried to execute him, if he did something else they would end him off then and there.
DeleteGreat discussion - really good passage choices, great follow up questions and the comments are thorough - well done. Ryan just needs to respond to a few more
